Record Time "A Hero's Death"

It’s good to be back writing this week. I know there was quite a long gap between my first real post and the second. I apologize for that. But, now I have a more consistent writing schedule for this blog that I plan to stick to. So let’s get into this week's playlist, “A Hero’s Death”.

Inspired by one of my favorite artists The Fratellis, an indie rock group out of Glasgow, this week’s edition features plenty of alt-rock new and old. I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for the alt-rock genre. I grew up with parents who listened to just about everything from the Fratellis to Oingo Boingo. So, It’s difficult to remember exactly when I heard their hit “Chelsea Dagger” for the first time. I do however remember instantly falling in love with the snappy drums and the percussive baseline. There was something about the loud, explosive feeling of the song that fascinated my six-year-old self. Imagine that.

For the longest time growing up, I had a bad habit of just listening to the one song I liked from an artist without ever diving deeper into their other music. Thankfully, once I got older, I grew out of that habit. Eventually, I started to delve into the entirety of "Costello Music." That’s when I discovered just how much I love the album.

It's an album I would highly recommend listening to from start to finish. The combination of an occasional horn section, heavy acoustic guitars, and bombastic drums make the sing-along-like lyrics a blast to listen to. It is a fine addition to any playlist out there.

So, let’s talk about this week’s playlist. Kicking off this week’s edition with the Fratellis’ “Got Ma Nuts From A Hippie”. It’s one of my favorite tracks off of “Costello Music.” Some of my other favorite artists featured on this playlist include The Gorillaz, Scoundrels, CAKE, and Oasis.
